CAD, Cut, Paint & Label
Your panel design, fabricated.
Lay out your instrument panel in the Panel Designer, then send it to be fabricated. The layout is drawn in CAD, the panel is CNC cut from it, coated in the color and finish you choose, and engraved with your legends and placards. It is a Hangar Flying service, and the work is completed by our fabrication partner, Aircraft Instrument Panels.
What is done

CAD
Your layout, with every instrument and avionics unit at the manufacturer's dimensions, is drawn in CAD for your aircraft's panel: cutouts, mounting holes and the panel outline.

Cut
The panel is CNC cut from the CAD drawing, so instrument and avionics cutouts, switch and circuit breaker holes and mounting holes are where the drawing puts them.

Paint
The cut panel is coated. Choose the color and the finish to suit the cockpit, from a flat gray or black to a color matched to your interior.

Label
Labels are engraved into the finish: switch and circuit breaker legends, placards, the registration number, a logo if you want one.
How it works
- Design the panel. Pick the panel template for your aircraft in the Panel Designer and place your instruments and avionics.
- Send the request. Click CAD, Cut, Paint & Label in the designer's menu bar. Your design and its equipment list open with a short form: who you are, the aircraft, and which services you want.
- Receive a price for the work. The price is for the CAD, cutting, coating and engraving of your panel. Equipment is not priced or sold as part of these services.
- Accept, ask for changes, or decline. Each request has its own page, with the price, the notes and the messages between you and our shop.
- The panel is fabricated. Once you accept, Aircraft Instrument Panels takes the work from CAD to the finished panel and stays in touch through the same page.

You design the panel here, in the Panel Designer. Aircraft Instrument Panels fabricates it: CNC cutting, coating and engraving, for a full panel upgrade or a direct replacement of the existing panel. Their work covers most general aviation, experimental, light-sport and warbird aircraft.

Before anything is cut
A Panel Designer layout is a planning aid. Templates and equipment dimensions can be wrong: measure your own panel and your own equipment, and settle the details with our shop. Installing a new instrument panel is an alteration to the aircraft; on a type-certificated aircraft, have your A&P or repair station determine whether it is a major or minor alteration, the approval it needs (14 CFR part 43, appendix A; FAA Form 337 if major) and the maintenance record entries required.
